White Glove Support / System Admin/ Desktop Admin

- View Position Summary
The Systems Administrator Level 1 provides desktop and laptop support to the Institute's end users and is responsible for configuring and maintaining desktop hardware and software applications, and peripherals. Troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and network wired and wireless connectivity issues, and documents all activities in the Service Desk system. Maintains laptops, desktops, videoconferencing systems, telephones with routine maintenance. Maintains desktop security and anti-malware applications such as Anti-Virus and system monitoring tools and reports any systems that are out of conformance with the Institute's information security management system policies. Expected to operate independently and to be detail oriented and task focused. Ensuring end user satisfaction is top priority.
- Essential Functions
- Provide support for issues related to desktops, laptops, and applications
- Provide maintenance for desktops, laptops, IP phones, videoconferencing systems, printers and peripherals on the corporate network
- Support bring your own device (BYOD) applications installed and running on personal smart phones and tablet devices
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Mac OS laptops and desktops, including software, upgrades, and network connectivity
- Troubleshoot software and hardware failures and determine network problems
- Perform daily system monitoring tasks
- Ensure expedient resolution of problems related to laptops, desktops, and servers
- Monitor JIRA Service Desk queue and respond to tickets related to laptops, desktops, and servers
- Administer virtual desktop environment
- Manage Sophos Anti-Virus environment
- Manage and support Active Directory
- Provide support for email related issues
- Support and manage the Mimecast security portal policies and email quarantine
- Support Microsoft print services on print server
- Provide users support with RSA related issues
- Administer VMware VDI console
- Utilize current IT Service Management tool to image laptops
- Information Security Responsibilities
- Attend/complete assigned information security training by the designated completion date.
- Read and adhere to published ISMS policies and procedures.
- Report timely any observed violations of ISMS policy - or known encroachments on information security - to your department leader and/or the Information Technology Department.
- Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or eight years of experience in network and desktop support.
- Preferred Certifications: Microsoft systems certification, CCNA/CCNP Routing and Switching, and VMWare.
- Other Qualifications
- 5 years of experience analyzing and resolving desktop, system, and network issues
- 5 years of experience working in Help Desk/Tier I desktop network support
- 2+ years administering Windows Servers
- 1+ years administering VMWare ESXi environments
- 1+ years experience administering VMWare Horizon View environments
- 3 years working at a Help Desk in a corporate environment
- Hands-on experience administering an IT Service Management tool (e.g. Ivanti)
- Very strong troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement solutions and push through challenges to ensure success
- Excellent interpersonal skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A well-developed understanding of network security best practices and industry best practices
- Working knowledge of Windows 10, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, login scripts
- Working knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN technologies and protocols with a clear understanding of Windows and TCP/IP networking
- Working knowledge of Windows server functionality (i.e. File Server, Print Server)
- Basic scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell)
- Requires excellent communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment and time management skills
- Must be able to work independently and collaborate with other department members to resolve network and system issues
- Must be a self-starter with a burning desire to excel, working outside of normal business hours as required to complete assigned tasks on time or before they are due
- Superior troubleshooting skills
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, GPO's
- Day-to-day network administration supporting
